RANGELY I This past Saturday, the junior varsity Panthers traveled to Parachute to participate in the Grand Valley JV tournament. They came away 3-1, beating Grand Valley 2, Meeker and Basalt but falling to Glenwood. The Panthers took third place overall, which is an excellent start to the season. They played very well overall, running different offense schemes and with all members contributing to the scores. Coach Marybel Cox said she is looking forward to watching them grow as the season progresses.
Rangely High School hosted a varsity volleyball tournament this past Friday and Saturday. Rangely’s varsity team went 2-2. They played hard against Plateau Valley but were unable to defeat the Cowboys. They won the first set 25-16 and shut down some key players. The second and third sets were fought hard but with some errors on the Panthers’ side they were unable to stop the Cowboys. Another tough game Rangely played was against Rifle who they took to three sets. Rangely defeated Debeque and Lotus.
Congratulations to Emmeree Wagner and Adelynn Halcomb for being players of the week.
Rangely will host North Park on Friday, Sept. 3.
