RANGELY — The Panther wrestling team hosted a dual against Meeker on Jan. 27. The dual was over quickly due to the lack of matches.
Chance Peters won by forfeit. At 122, Ryan Petty won by a pin. At 119, Blake Wanstedt lost by a pin. At 130, JC Chumacero avenged an earlier loss and won by a pin. At 135, Cole Barlow also avenged an earlier loss and won by a decision. At 140, Brandon Gray won by a pin. At 145, Logan Osborne won by a forfeit. At 152, Jake Smith won by a pin. At 160, Christian Holcomb won by a pin. At 171, Keane Raley lost by a pin. At 189, Bo Armstrong won by a pin. At 215, Mike Dillon lost by a pin. And at heavyweight, Kindal Cushman won by a forfeit.
Rangely won 54-18.
My only concern this week was the lack of finishing matches when we were up big. That is something we need to work on.
This week, we travel to Rifle to dual the Bears. This will be a very tough test for the team, but we need to keep wrestling to get prepared for the tough regional tournament next week. Then on Friday, we will be in Meeker, but we will dual only Coal Ridge.
