RBC 4-H’rs perform well at LaPlata

RBC | Several 4-H kids from Rio Blanco County went to Durango, Colorado, last weekend to compete in their first contest of the season, the LaPlata County “Rumble in the Rockies” Livestock Judging Contest. Nine kids traveled to compete and all nine placed in the “Top 10” and had their names called. There were 12 different counties represented at this contest.

Coach Clint Shults said, “In the past 30 years of my coaching livestock judging here in Meeker, I don’t recall ever going to a contest where every single team member placed ‘Top 10’ and got recognized at the same time! This is remarkable and I’m so proud of all these kids!”

Some kids will be traveling again this weekend to compete again in a contest in Otero County.

The Livestock Judging Team would like to thank the Overtons with Northwest Auto Sales and Service for their support and for making it possible for the team to have transportation to get to Durango after a last minute snag. The Overtons have bent over backwards to support all youth activities in our region for years.
