RBC | This past weekend, 4-H members from Rio Blanco County traveled to Montrose to compete in the Tri River Area Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
A total of 51 junior participants competed on 14 teams. Rio Blanco County was represented by one full junior team and two additional competitors who joined a mixed-county team.
The Rio Blanco junior team included Arabella Black, Ally Black, Annabeth Moody and Milo Brennan. Paisley Potter and Copen Smith competed with participants from other TRA counties.
Competitors were scored in cattle, sheep and goat, swine, reasons, questions, placings and overall performance. The contest featured 12 judging classes, two sets of questions and three sets of reasons for junior competitors.
Individually, Ally Black placed 13th in swine, 19th in reasons and 24th overall. Arabella Black placed 15th in placings and 22nd overall. Milo Brennan placed 19th in placings and 26th overall, while Annabeth Moody placed 32nd overall.
As a team, the Rio Blanco group placed sixth in cattle, seventh in swine, seventh in sheep and goat, 12th in questions, ninth in reasons, sixth in placings and sixth overall.
Individually, Paisley Potter placed 15th in cattle, 20th in swine, first in sheep and goat, 13th in reasons, sixth in placings and 12th overall. Copen Smith placed 18th in swine and 42nd overall.
Their mixed-county team placed 10th in cattle, eighth in swine, 12th in sheep and goat, ninth in questions, eighth in reasons, ninth in placings and 10th overall.
