RBC Youth represented at national livestock judging contest in Arizona

RBC | Youth from both ends of the county traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, for the chance to compete at the Arizona Nationals Livestock Judging Contest on New Year’s Eve. More than 280 youth were competing, both seniors and juniors, and within that, there were 31 junior teams. 

Rio Blanco Livestock Judging represented Colorado well by competing with two full junior teams of four each. 

The team competing with Paisley Potter, Milo Brennan, Waylyn Tuck, and Ally Black placed 3rd High Team in Cattle, Reasons, Sheep/Goat, and Swine, ultimately earning them 2nd High Team overall. 

The team consisting of Annabeth Moody, Indica Rayburn, Lillie Potter, and Brodee Kilduff, placed 17th High Team in Cattle, 6th High Team in Reasons and Swine, and 5th High Team in Sheep/Goat, ultimately earning them 9th High Team overall. 

A total of 86 juniors competed in this national contest, and individually, the RBC youth performed exceptionally well, achieving many personal bests that contributed to the team’s success. In Cattle, Ally was 13th, Paisley was 23rd, Milo 41st, Waylyn 48th, Annabeth 49th, Indica 61st, Brodee 64th, and Lillie 78th. In Sheep/Goat, Brodee was 6th, Milo 9th, Ally 10th, Lillie 19th, Waylyn 36th, Paisley 49th, Annabeth 64th, and Indica 84th. In Swine, Brodee was 6th, Paisley 9th, Ally 12th, Waylyn 31st, Indica 34th, Lillie 39th, Milo 45th, and Annabeth 57th. In Reasons, Paisley was 3rd, Brodee 9th, Ally 12th, Indica 26th, Waylyn 28th, Milo 37th, Lillie 44th, and Annabeth 60th. Overall High Individual rankings were as follows: Ally 3rd, Brodee 11th, Paisley 22nd, Milo 23rd, Waylyn 30th, Lillie 38th, Annabeth 62nd, and Indica 76th. 

These youth range from more veteran junior judges to more newbie judges; however, everyone is learning, improving, and having fun. Congratulations to the Rio Blanco County 4-H youth and good job representing Colorado well.
