MEEKER I The Meeker PEO will hold a quilt show featuring quilts from all across Northwest Colorado on Sept. 6-7, the weekend of the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials.
The two-day event is the major fundraiser event for the PEO, and it will be held at the old elementary school in downtown Meeker from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization) is a non-profit group of women working to help send women to college. One student is currently attending Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., and two scholarships are awarded each year for college as well as two scholarships to camp.
A bake sale will be held as part of the quilting show and will last until the cakes have sold out.
Quilts are being sought from all over, with focus on those from Northwest Colorado. The quilts will not be judged, just shown, PEO officials said, adding that the quilts will not be for sale.
Admission will be $3.
A special event will be the drawing for a Stephanie Oldland quilt. Tickets for the drawing can be purchased at Meeker Drug or at the quilt show itself for $2 each or six for $10.
