RBC | Homecoming Week of 2023 happened this past week, it was quite busy. A fierce competition between the four classes commenced between dress-up days, Coin Wars and the parade.
The students chose Family Game Night as the Homecoming theme this year. Each class chose a board game for decoration and dress-up purposes. The freshman class chose Monopoly, the sophomores chose Mousetrap, the juniors chose Clue, and the seniors chose Candyland. The senior class won the float contest and class car with their Candyland float on Friday.
However, the sophomores hailed for most participation in dress-up days throughout the week. The dress-up days were as follows: Barbenheimer Day (mash-up title for the Barbie and Oppenheimer movies that both came out on July 21) on Monday, Game Show Host Day on Tuesday, Board Game Character Day on Wednesday, and Spirit Day on Thursday. Sophomores secured their win by all wearing mouse ears on Wednesday.
The juniors claimed victory in Coin Wars, a competition where the class who collects the most coins in their class jar wins. Proceeds will go towards a Student Council Officer retreat in Denver in the spring.
Students voted to crown Graycee Cravens and Ryan Sullivan as Homecoming Queen and King. Students also voted to give the title of First Attendants to Mia Pinzon Salazar and Samuel Hightower. Second Attendants were Jayda May and Said Rodriguez. The Cowboys won the football game on Friday against Cedaredge 33-0 and the volleyball team added more wins to their league record.
Student Council is thankful to the community for continuing to show support to Meeker High School’s students and for helping with the smooth execution of Homecoming 2023.
