RANGELY | The Rangely high school boys’ basketball team kicks off their season with the White River Electric Cowboy Shootout this Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 8-10 in Meeker.
The varsity boys play Moffat County JV on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. and the JV team plays Moffat County C team at 7:30 p.m.
Coach Kyle Boydstun states, “This year’s team has put in a lot of hard work this summer and fall. They are still a relatively young team, but we expect bigger and better things this year after finishing 11-10 last year.”
The Panthers will miss Kaulan Brady, last year’s only senior, however, coach Boydstun thinks seniors Troy Allred (returning starter) and Mikey Sheppard are ready to take up the slack. The Panthers also have three other returning starters among juniors Patrick Scoggins, Kobe Broome and Brennan Noyes. Juniors Doug Denison, Austin Ficken and Cameron Filfred round out the Panthers’ upperclassmen. Sophomores Stetson Cudo, Drew Brannan, Devin Ramirez, Riley Boydstun and Marshall Webber figure to contribute greatly on both varsity and JV squads. Sophomore CJ Lucero and freshmen Ethan Byers and Dylan LeBleu round out the Panthers underclassmen.
