On Jan. 30 the Panther boys traveled to Collbran, Colorado, for a rematch against the Plateau Valley Cowboys. The Cowboys, who are undefeated in the league once again, used their pressure defense to wreak havoc on the Panthers all night. After the first quarter, the scoreboard read 14-7. The second quarter once again saw the Panthers struggle to score and at halftime the Panthers trailed 28-12. Coming out of halftime the Panthers would have their best quarter and score 15 points. In the end, the Panthers could not contain the Cowboys and would fall 68-32. Leading the way for the Panthers was Marcos Quintana who scored eight points.
On Feb. 3 the Panthers traveled to De Beque to take on the Dragons. The Dragons also sat at the top of the Western Slope League standings as their only league loss came at the hands of Plateau Valley. In the first quarter the Dragons came out shooting the ball very well and made first quarter 3’s. They also used their size advantage to grab many offensive rebounds. At the end of the first quarter the Panthers trailed 23-9. The second quarter went about the same and at halftime the Panthers trailed 39-15. The Panthers came out of the locker room and once again had a much better half. In the second half they hit five three-pointers of their own and scored 27 points. The final score saw the Panthers fall 63-42. Leading the way for the Panthers was Clay Allred who scored 16 points on four three-pointers and Lincoln Harris who added seven points.
