rangely I Rangely Volleyball has a great turn out this year with 30 girls playing. Even with so many players, Rangely will still be young on the court. This season will be led by three seniors, Kyrah Phelps, Kenzie Satterly and Kristiana Terry. With 16 freshmen, it will help build the foundation for the coming years. It will be an exciting year as Rangely brings back much of their team that went to Regionals last season.
Rangely volleyball hosted their season opener tournament. Rangely hosted seven teams. Lady Panthers started Friday against Debeque a little slow but found their groove and defeated Debeque in two sets. For the last match of the night, Rangely played Mancos who also made a regional appearance last season. Rangely came out ready but fell a little short in the first set, but Rangely didn’t fold as they took the second set forcing the third. It was a back-and-forth battle, but Mancos ended up with the win. Rangely ended the first day of the tournament 1-1 with Telluride as the next opponent the next morning. Rangely took to the floor against Telluride and won in two sets. With pool play over, and Rangely going 2-1, that put them in second place in their pool and would be playing the second place of the other pool who ended up being Hayden. This matchup would determine third and fourth place. As Hayden and Rangely started play, Rangely couldn’t get things going and dropped the match to Hayden.
Rangely volleyball would like to thank Grand Valley, Cedaredge, Hayden, Mancos, Dove Creek, Telluride, and Debeque for coming to the tournament. Rangely volleyball would also like to thank Kyle Wren and Rangely District Hospital for use of their AC unit for the weekend!
Rangely heads to North Park on Friday and will host Baggs, Wyoming on Saturday. Come out and support the Panthers!
