On The Rangely Panthers wrestling team traveled to West Grand last Friday for a dual with a tough Saratoga, Wyoming, squad. There were seven matches wrestled with the Panthers winning three. Aydan Christian won a hard fought match 4-3. Kobey Chism pinned his opponent in 1:51, and Jaxon Torsell followed with a quick pin in 1:16. The Panthers lost the dual 42-27.
On Saturday the Panthers were in the West Grand Tournament, once again Kobey Chism led as Rangely’s lone champion. Placing second were Izaiah Moody and Jaxon Torsell. Placing third for the Panthers were Aydan Christian, Colton Stevens and Kolby Olsen. Placing fourth for the Panthers were Wyatt Stevens and Landon Carlson. Wrestling but not placing this week was Colin Zadra. The Panthers placed third as a team behind Buena Vista and Saratoga. Due to injuries the team was without Jaime Sanchez and Kasen LeBleu, we hope to have them back in action after the holiday break.

The wrestling team, managers and coaches would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year. The Panthers next wrestling action will be on Jan. 6, 2023, in Glenwood for a dual followed by the Eagle Valley Tournament on Jan. 7.
