RANGELY I The Panther wrestling team traveled to Duchesne, Utah, last week and competed in a dual against the Eagles. Due to forfeits the dual was a good test of individual performance.
“All I am asking for at this point of the season is improvement on disciplined wrestling,” head coach Derek Stolworthy said. “We have a lot of hard work ahead of us and we are hoping to peak the week of regionals.”
The Panthers headed to Grand Junction Friday to competed in the Warrior Classic and once again the Panthers showed improvement going up against their toughest competition so far this season.
Senior Patrick Brown was the lone placer for the Panther team. Brown placed sixth in the 32-man heavyweight bracket. Colton Coombs and Jake Smith were one match away from the medal round. Lucas Heinle went 1-2 in the tournament.
Also wrestling for the Panthers and getting quality mat time against quality opponents were Heath Peters, Ethan Allred, Chance Peters and Michael Parker.
“I am proud of the team’s effort over the last two weeks,” stated Stolworthy. “I also would like to thank the parents who travel week in and week out, supporting our team.”
