MEEKER | The Rio Blanco Cattlewomen recently hosted their fourth annual Beef Cook-Off at Meeker High School, showcasing the creativity and culinary skills of local catering students while promoting the value of locally sourced beef.
Students were challenged to prepare original dishes using ground beef, resulting in an impressive variety of flavorful and innovative meals. Judges Diane Ewing, Janice Weinholdt, and Iris Franklin sampled and evaluated each entry, noting that the quality of the dishes continues to improve every year.
The Grand Champion award was earned by Tucker Chinn, Orion Musser, Koy Weber, and Trent Sanders for their Stuffed Peppers, while the Reserve Champion title went to McKenna Berthelson, Gracie Gardner, and Josey McClain for their Smashburger TacosAdditional entries included Cheeseburger Egg Rolls prepared by Israel Ayala, Moth Rippy, and Mylee Oliver, and a Taco Casserole created by Abi Amick.
Judges were highly impressed by both the presentation and flavor of the dishes, praising the students for their creativity and skill. Cooking with ground beef provides a protein-packed, versatile, and delicious option for families, making it an ideal focus for the competition.
The Rio Blanco Cattlewomen extend a sincere thank you to teacher Brenda Mullins for her continued partnership and enthusiasm in promoting beef through the Beef Council grant. Her support plays a vital role in educating students and connecting them with locally produced agricultural products.
The Beef Cook-Off continues to be a meaningful event that highlights local agriculture, supports youth education, and celebrates the many ways beef can be enjoyed.
