ARRESTS
A 39 year-old male was arrested on 6/19/2023 for abusing toxic vapors, driving under restraint and careless driving. A PR bond was granted 6/20/2023 by Magistrate McConaughy.
A 24 year-old male was arrested on 6/21/2023 on a Rio Blanco County warrant as well as a Moffat County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. A PR bond was granted 6/22/2023 by Magistrate McConaughy.
A 48 year-old male was arrested on 6/21/2023 for DUI, careless driving causing injury, driving under restraint and driving when passenger not secured by safety belt.
A 21 year-old male was arrested on 6/21/2023 for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and a Garfield County warrant. A PR bond was granted on 6/22/2023 by Magistrate McConaughy.
Call summaries
6/18/2023 @ 6:31 pm. A white Ford truck was reportedly varying speeds on Highway 13 traveling towards Meeker. A deputy was able to locate the truck and verified there was no illegal driving. No traffic stop was initiated.
6/19/2023 @ 6:53 pm. A male party was arrested after he crashed into a fence. Just before the accident the driver was observed “sniffing something.” The driver was also driving without a valid drivers license. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.
6/21/2023 @ 6:49 am. A report of black smoke was reported to the Communications Center that was spotted from the area of Lake Avery. Upon further investigation it was a controlled burn on County Road 10.
6/21/2023 @ 3:43 pm. A traffic accident with injuries occured a the 37 mile-marker on Highway 13 when a vehicle failed to slow for the construction zone and hit another vehicle. The driver and passenger of the speeding vehicle were arrested and taken to Moffat County jail.
6/21/2023 @ 9:30 pm. A camper was asked to move along after they were parked on an oilfield pad near the 11 mile-marker on Highway 64.
6/22/2023 @ 12:31 pm. A wildland fire broke out on County Road 2 due to grass cutting. Rangely Fire Dept. along with BLM Fire Dept. responded and were able to get the fire out. The fire was estimated to be about 1 acre in size.
6/23/2023 @ 4:36 pm. Another wildland fire was reported on County Road 5 near the 21 mile-marker. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and determined the fire to be contained and controlled at 6:06 pm.
6/23/2023 @ 9:22 pm. A deputy on routine patrol came across some lights up in a tree on county Road 98. After looking around the area a bit more, the deputy collected the lights.
6/24/2023 @ 9:47 am. A verbal disturbance ensued at a residence in the Town of Meeker after a male party thought that his ex-wife was selling some of his items in a garage sale. Officers responded and determined the call to be civil in nature and that none of male party’s items were being sold.
6/24/2023 @ 2:07 pm. Local authorities were notified by Colorado State Patrol Communications to be on the lookout for a vehicle that eluded Craig PD and was last seen southbound on Highway 13 from Craig. Law Enforcement in Rio Blanco County were made aware and kept a lookout for the vehicle but were unable to locate.
