Roberts announces candidacy for reelection to State Senate seat

PRESS RELEASE

RBC | State Senator Dylan Roberts was elected in 2022 to represent Senate District 8 which includes all or part of Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt, and Summit Counties.

He has declared his campaign for re-election, reaffirming his commitment to making life more affordable for Coloradans and advocating for the unique needs of the mountain and rural communities he knows and serves.

“In an age of immense political division and turmoil at the federal level, it is up to the states to govern responsibly, lower costs for hardworking people and families, and put results over politics,” said Senator Dylan Roberts. “In my first three years in the State Senate, I am proud of the work I’ve done, with my constituents, to advocate for the unique needs, challenges, and opportunities that face our rural and mountain communities. We’ve expanded opportunities for affordable home ownership, protected our water and public lands, increased support for rural economic development, made our highways safer, and supported public education. But, there is still so much more to do to make Colorado a better, more affordable, and safer place to live. That’s why I’m running to continue doing this work for the people of Senate District 8.”

In his first term in the Colorado State Senate, which began in 2023, and during his time in the State House, Roberts has successfully championed legislation to ease cost-of-living pressures in our region. He has directed resources and policy changes that have resulted in the construction of more attainable housing and will continue to do so for years to come, including in the communities of Avon, Craig, Eagle, Edwards, Fraser, Frisco, Granby, Hayden, Idaho Springs, Rangely, Steamboat Springs, and more. His bills have helped reduce health insurance and prescription drug costs, and created incentives to make our rural and mountain communities places where folks can make a living, start a family, start a business, and retire.

As Chair of the Senate Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee, he has taken leadership in strengthening protections for our water, supporting agriculture and ranching, and investing in protections against climate change, wildfire, and drought. Further, Roberts has prioritized making Interstate 70 and other high-country roads safer, while advocating for bringing mountain rail service to the region — improving connectivity, reducing traffic, and supporting sustainable growth. He also serves as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and in 2024, Roberts was elevated by his caucus to the leadership position of Majority Caucus Chair.

Known for his independence and as a bipartisan collaborator in the State Senate, Roberts unwaveringly puts the interests of District 8 first — even when it means standing apart from his own party. “Senate District 8 is by far the most politically, economically, and geographically diverse district in the state – and I take that responsibility seriously. That’s why I have held 46 town hall meetings in every corner of SD8 during my three years in the Senate; so I am always in touch with those I represent. I have and will continue to always vote my district first, work with anyone if it means improving the lives of my constituents, and relentlessly focus on results over politics,” said Roberts.

Dylan Roberts was raised in Routt County and lives in Frisco with his wife and two young children. Prior to his election to the Colorado Senate, he served two terms in the Colorado House and has also worked as a Deputy District Attorney prosecuting crimes and advocating for victims.
