MEEKER I The Meeker Education Association (MEA) will host a School Board Candidate Forum on Oct. 17 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Meeker High School cafeteria. Hosts and moderators for the event will be math and science teacher Robert Dorsett and U.S. literature and journalism teacher Kathleen Kelley. The forum is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. Seven candidates are running for four seats on the RE-1 District School Board. Board members Iris Franklin, Paul Neilson and Mindy Burke are not running for re-election. Bill DeVergie is the only incumbent running for re-election. Challengers include George Henderson, Bud Ridings, Kristen Eskelson, Carly Thompson, Dan Chinn and Todd Shults. Eligible voters have 30 days before the Nov. 5 election to register to vote.
