MEEKER | Meeker School Board members heard from some of this year’s graduating class about their plans post-graduation at the start of the April 22 regular school board meeting.
In the regular meeting, the board reviewed upcoming changes to school finance law. Superintendent Chris Selle said the legislative proposals are expected to benefit Meeker schools in the long run, describing the changes as “the most realistic and meaningful effort” for school finance he’s seen in 15 years. The new legislation will improve long-term problems for rural school funding, but it still doesn’t bring the state of Colorado “even close” to national averages for funding.
The board approved updated graduation requirements, approved a 6% base pay increase for school staff, and approved the hiring of Sarah Powell as high school science teacher, Stryker Lane as head wrestling coach for MHS, and Jessica Berthelson as assistant track coach.
