MEEKER | SGM is pleased to announce Meeker High School seniors, Kale Burke and Tannen Kennedy, as two of five recipients of the 2019 Steve Westhoff Scholarship.
Burke demonstrates a passion and enthusiasm for engineering, creativity and a commitment to service, all qualities embodied by Steve Westhoff, a beloved and inspirational SGM employee for whom the scholarship is named. The SGM scholarship committee was impressed with Burke’s hard work and dedication to his studies, which is evident in his strong academic record not only in math and science, but across the board. Burke demonstrates strong leadership skills through FFA, National Honor Society, and his participation with the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Program. Given his ability to prioritize his education and balance extracurriculars, we feel Burke will truly excel in college and an engineering career. He will receive $1,400 to apply towards his studies. He plans to study chemical engineering at University of Arizona.
Tannen Kennedy demonstrates a passion and enthusiasm for engineering, creativity and a commitment to service, all qualities embodied by Steve Westhoff, a beloved and inspirational SGM employee for whom the scholarship is named. The SGM scholarship committee was impressed with Kennedy’s hard work and dedication to his studies, which is evident in his strong academic record not only in math and science, but across the board.
