Seven conditional use permits for short-term rentals were approved by Meeker’s board of trustees Tuesday following recommendations by the town’s planning commission. One letter in opposition to all short-term rentals in Meeker was received and heard by the board.
Community Development Director Carly Thomson said all of the applicants have been operating as short-term rentals for various periods of time. The requirements for short-term rentals were added to the land use development code in May 2023. The filing of permits brings those property owners into compliance with the code. The maximum number of short-term rental units in Meeker is set at 20.
Public Works Superintendent Tobey Willy said he plans to create a short-term and long-term proactive maintenance plan for the town’s six wells. “They’ve not really given us a lot of issues,” he said, but noted that four were drilled in the 1970s and two in the 1980s.
