RANGELY I Last Saturday, the Rangely Panthers cross country teams took a smaller group to the Hotchkiss Invitational, but still produced big results. The opposite of last weekend, runners faced a hot and hilly 5K through the dirt trails of Hotchkiss. Mary Scoggins again led the girls’ team to start the morning off, starting the race aggressively and pushing herself to a third place finish.
For the boys’ team, it was Andrew Dorris who was at the front for the Panthers as he finished fourth. Alex Black was right on his heels, taking sixth place. The rest of the boys’ team came in strongly and consistently, earning the team a second place finish overall.
Even though this past weekend was just the second official meet of the season, the Panthers have shown that they are preparing quite quickly for the regional championships only a month away.
