RBC | Rio Blanco County Commissioners held a special, in-person only public comment period Tuesday before entering executive session. The executive session lists two separate subjects of discussion including “determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, and instructing negotiators regarding the Central Square Contract which pertains to dispatch technical systems and ongoing efforts to develop an IGA (intergovernmental agreement) or MOU (memorandum of understanding) about a shared licensing request made by the Town of Rangely earlier this year. The board did not take any action related to the topic.
Another executive session item was the “Bonfire Prime Contract” which commissioners took action on after the executive session to approve “Task Order #1 for expansion of the Rio Blanco County Broadband Project.” The task order brings “Bonfire Infrastructure Group” into the fold to assist Rio Blanco County’s efforts to secure a large federal grant. According to their website, Bonfire specializes in broadband planning services, engineering, construction and fiber operations. If awarded, grant funds would go towards completing the “last-mile” of RBC’s broadband network. Last mile generally refers to the final connection from the main fiber network to the home or end-user.
The other subject listed for the executive session was “to receive legal advice from the County Attorney and to go into deliberation regarding the application for the White River Solar Project.” The board did not take any action related to the subject in the regular session.
