RANGELY — The Rangely 4-H Makin’ Bacon Swine Club held its fist meeting of the year on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. The club has a total of 25 members, including five new members.
The meeting started with elections. The 2008 president is Hastin Boldger, vice president Jake Smith, secretary Torie Slagle, 4-H council representive Brittany Babineau, pledge leaders are Quincey Thacker and Kayte Allred and the reporter is Tessa Slagle.
All new members in 4-H were required to attend a new member orientation meeting on Feb. 12. Also, all new members and returning members that have turned 14 this past year attended the WQMA meeting Feb. 13.
To show your swine at the RBC fair all members need to attend a minimum of 50 percent of the club meetings, present a 1-3 minute demonstration in front of the club on a swine related project of your choice, participate in a club fundraiser, help with our community pride project and complete the record book on your animal.
All new members attended an additional session on club expectations which includes patience, time commitment, proper care of your animal and their pen, exercising your animal, occasional weighing of your animal and transportation to the fair.
The next meeting of the Rangely Makin’ Bacon Swine Club will be Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the RBC Annex Building.
