DOW, Rec District sponsor ice derby

MEEKER — As part of the fifth annual Winter Games held Saturday, Feb. 28, the ERBM Rec and Park District will be featuring a free family ice fishing derby at Lake Avery in partnership with the Division of Wildlife.

Moose on the loose: DOW moves 19 moose

Moose moved into the White River National Forest on their own, migrating from other areas. Now, with transplants from Utah, the Division of Wildlife is adding to the local numbers in hopes of establishing a bigger population in Rio Blanco County.

RBC — Residents of Rio Blanco County are invited to attend an informational meeting at 1 p.m. July 26 in Craig during an open forum with Tom Remington, director of the Colorado Division of Wildlife, as well as other wildlife personnel.

Smith wins private turkey shoot at Seven Lakes

MEEKER — The Colorado Division of Wildlife and a Meeker-area ranch recently hosted a very special youth only turkey hunt. The once-in-a-lifetime private land hunt, held in mid-April at the Seven Lakes Ranch east of Meeker, was coordinated by local DOW personnel and volunteers from the ranch.
