Two MHS wrestlers place

MEEKER I Six Meeker High School wrestlers traveled to Pueblo last weekend to compete in the freshman/sophomore state tournament, and two returned as state placers.

Meeker sends three to state

MEEKER I “We have one more going than we did last year, so that’s positive,” Meeker wrestling coach Joe Gutierrez said of the three Cowboy wrestlers who qualified for the Colorado State Wrestling Champion-ships at last weekend’s regional tournament in Palisade.

Cowboys at home Friday

MEEKER I The Cowboy wrestling team will host its only home dual meets Friday against the Hayden Tigers and Moffat County Bulldogs, starting at 6 p.m.

Ten Meeker wrestlers compete at TOC

MEEKER I “You can tell when you go to a tough tournament, you see guys with black eyes and all beat up,” Meeker wrestling coach Joe Gutierrez said of the appropriately named Tournament of Champions, which the Cowboys competed in last weekend in Vernal, Utah.

MHS wrestles shorthanded

MEEKER I “It was fun,” Cowboy wrestling coach Joe Gutierrez said of a tournament last Saturday in Kremmling. “We’re starting to gel together.” Because of injury and eligibility, only five wrestlers competed, but Gutierrez said most of the wrestlers traveled to the West Grand tournament.
