Rio Blanco County Days Gone By

High water

RBC I The Colorado Water Conservation Board encourages property owners, recreationalists, businesses and communities to pay close attention to local waterways in coming days as stream flows in many rivers within the northern portion of Colorado are quickly increasing as warmer weather enters the state.

Parks board approves changes

RBC I The Colorado State Parks board voted to reduce the discounts offered to Colorado residents 64 and older. Under the changes, which go into effect June 30, 2011, seniors will receive less of a discount on the Aspen Leaf Annual Pass and on Aspen Leaf camping fees.

BLM extends deadlines

RBC I The Bureau of Land Management announced it is extending the deadline for submitting proposals from May 14 to June 7, for public-private partnerships to establish wild horse “ecosanctuaries” on private or other non-BLM managed land.

Tax receipts down

RBC I Sales and use tax numbers for the first quarter of 2011 are in. Sales and use tax receipts include collected taxes for retail sales, motor vehicle use tax and building materials use tax. These numbers are unaudited and subject to change.
