RANGELY | The TANK Center for Sonic Arts has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $15,000.
This grant will support Connecting Colorado, an artist residency program that will bring artists from CU Boulder’s ATLAS B2 Center for Media Arts & Performance to the TANK Center for Sonic Arts in Rangely. Programming created by the resident artists at the TANK will be presented in Boulder, in the B2’s Black Box Experimental Studio.
“This award will benefit our rural community on the Western Slope,” said TANK Executive Director James Paul. “Plus it will introduce the Front Range community to the TANK’s resonant offerings, expanding the TANK’s reach across Colorado.”
The TANK is a 10-year-old arts nonprofit concert venue and recording studio, housed in a 75-foot former water tank that has been renowned since 1976 for its sustained, swirling internal reverberation.
This $15,000 award is one of The NEA’s 1,127 Grants for Arts Projects awards nationwide totaling more than $31.8 million as part of the recent announcement of fiscal year 2025 grants.
“The NEA is proud to continue our nearly 60 years of supporting the efforts of organizations and artists that help to shape our country’s vibrant arts sector and communities of all types across our nation,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson. “It is inspiring to see the wide range of creative projects taking place, including Connecting Colorado at the TANK Center for Sonic Arts.”
