Three Meeker DI teams ready for global competition

MEEKER I The three Destination Imagination teams from Meeker are only five days from departing for their trip to the global competition in Knoxville, Tenn.
The third-, fifth- and sixth-grade teams from Meeker Elementary School have been working very hard to prepare, plan and pay for their trip. They have hosted a meet and greet, provided the meal for the Lions Club bingo on May 8, and attended public meetings presenting their projects.
The teams are eager to begin their competition with an incredible opening ceremony in Thompson Boling Arena, where the sixth-grade team will actually be on the floor representing Team Colorado.
Teams from all over the world compete and share the experience.
Each challenge will have more than 100 teams competing, and the teams from Meeker hope to finish in the top 20.
During the week, they will participate in pin-trading events, a duct tape ball, their instant challenge and the team challenge.
The teams conclude the week with an awards ceremony on Saturday night, followed by their return home.
