Cowboy volleyball has just over three weeks left in regular season after their wins this past weekend over Cedaredge on Friday and Caprock on Saturday.
“Two fun matches this weekend,” commented head coach Greg Cravens. “We got some news at the beginning of the week that Nora was out and Larson wasn’t going to be available this weekend either.”
Nora Gianinetti and Hailey Larson are two of the seniors on the team.
“We moved Reese Clatterbaugh to the middle and Ariel Gallegos to the right side,” said Cravens. “I was very proud of both of them. They just stepped into their new roles and played hard all weekend.”
Cedaredge had a very good outside hitter that the Cowboys needed to adjust to, but still secured a win in three sets 25-16, 25-11, 25-15.
Against Caprock the Cowboys struggled with serve receive.
“Caprock had a very good serve that caused us issues,” commented Cravens. “Our points per set went down this weekend but the girls did well with the opportunity they were given.”
The final score, in three sets, for the Caprock games was 25-9, 25-10, 25-22.
Meeker has just one match against Grand Valley on Friday night this week. The games will be held in parachute and C team will begin at 4:30
Definitely a calmer week and weekend then what the team has been used to, the Cowboys have time to practice and get ready”
“This weekend will give me, as well as the rest of our team, an opportunity to get rested up for the challenging weekends ahead of us,” said junior Ainsley Selle. “It will also allow us a chance to work on some of the skills we need to take state this year!”
“We have some things we need to get better at and hopefully we get Nora and Hailey back,” concluded Cravens.
