RANGELY | Rangely’s Board of Trustees met Aug. 22, 2023 and Sept. 12, 2023. During the Aug. 22 meeting, board members approved a letter of support for the Rio Blanco County grant application to Colorado Advance CPF for the last mile broadband project.
Trustees also approved an intergovernmental agreement between the Rangely Police Department and the Rangely RE-4 School District regarding the school resource officer program. Trustees and staff discussed a correction that needed to be made to the contract, and trustees had some questions about the program. Town Administrator Lisa Piering said Police Chief Ti Hamblin and Officer Clinton Kilduff would be asked to attend the next meeting to answer those questions.
Piering, in her updates, said Airport Road has been milled and will receive a mag chloride treatment. Public works and the utility department are working on getting raw water to the museum and the Highway 64 project. Janet Miller is working on widening the sidewalk between White River Village and the gazebo. Town staff are working on the budget and employee evaluations, and Piering would like to begin budget work sessions in September.
Piering also said there would be no aerial spraying for mosquitos this year, but plans for fogging in September are underway.
At the Sept. 12 meeting, trustees approved a liquor license renewal for Pinyon Tree Liquors, Ing, approved a special event permit for Oktoberfest on Oct. 21, 2023 for the Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce, approved a variance request for an accessory structure at 146 S. Grand Ave., and approved the Rangely Development Corporation as the fiscal agent for the Rangely Chamber’s grant application to the Yampa Valley Community Foundation for $67,000.
