RANGELY | Highlights from the Oct. 10, 2023, Town of Rangely board meeting include new business items:
n Discussion and action to approve the Draft 2024 Budget as presented. Motion was made by Trey Robie and second by Ron Granger. The action was passed.
n Discussion and action to approve the conditional use permit for a Pole Barn Garage on 617 School St. as approved by planning and zoning on Oct. 2, 2023. Roger Polley addressed the board regarding the details of the contract between the landowner and Rangely Hardware and the events at the Planning and Zoning committee meeting. The Town of Rangely issued a building permit and Planning & Zoning Board approved the permit. The motion was approved.
n Discussion and action to approve the Main Street Mini-Grant application in the amount of $7,500. The grant will be used to complete a new mural on S. White Ave. The action was passed.
n Discussion and action to approve Resolution 2023-05 a resolution opposing proposition HH, an undue limitation on Municipal Budgets and Local Control of Property Tax Relief. The issue with the legislation will hold TABOR funds and will not guarantee tax relief. Tim Webber made a motion to strongly oppose the resolution stating that if it passes the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Parks District will close in approximately two years. The action was passed.
n Town Manager Lisa Piering offered her update to the Board by highlighting public works, including raw water shut off next week and unexpected repairs on La Mesa water main. Four town employees will seek their CDL licenses. White River Village foundation renovation will begin soon with an expected completed date of Dec. 1. Economic Development Director Jeannie Caldwell is making progress on marketing projects that include Main Street projects and preparing for 2024 events. The Rangely Community Gardens will complete the season with weed eating and prepare to start again in the Spring 2024 with fresh leadership and more involvement. Marybel Cox is preparing to hold the April 2024 election for three trustees and mayor.
