An annual tradition at the Colorado State Track & Field Championships is to recognize former state track champions during the state meet. Rio Blanco County has had several state track champions, including Rangely’s Alan Ducey, who won the 110-yard high hurdles in 1974 for the Panthers. Rio Blanco County added two more state champions to their list this year with Meeker senior Judd Harvey winning the shot put and Rangely junior James Talbot winning a 2A state title for running the fastest 1,600-meter.
