Mike Parr, left, formerly of Meeker and now living in Las Cruces, N.M., shot a 39-inch ibex in the Florida Mountains of southwest New Mexico in November while hunting with his brother, Steve, right, of Meeker. Mike drew the coveted ibex license in his first year of eligibility as a New Mexico hunter. The only place in the United States where ibex can be hunted is in the Florida Mountains. Parr got his ibex shooting a Ruger 7 mm from 409 yards. He said, “This was the most challenging and rewarding hunt I’ve experienced. This was a once-in-a-lifetime ibex hunt (only 25 tags per year).Thanks to my brother, Steve, and others for joining me.”
