DINOSAUR I “Peace reigns in Skull Creek,” Moffat County property owner Lori Lazarus said last week by phone. Lazarus was one of the Skull Creek subdivision homeowners concerned about an application for an open pit frac sand mine submitted to the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety last fall by Uinta Mining LLC.
A decision on approval of the permit had been pushed back to September 2020, but Lazarus was notified the company withdrew their application on Aug. 19. The letter submitted states, “Uinta Mining LLC has no further need for progress on this project.” No additional reason for the withdrawal was provided.
