To the residents of Meeker:
The Post Office has been forced to realign its hours for customers to collect mail. I’ve discussed with the area manager what the best approach would be. We agreed that we should put out a sign that states “Mail Available” when we have completed integrating the new mail for the day. We have been getting further and further behind in integrating the new mail which arrives daily with the remaining mail from previous days. To be efficient and to complete our work in a timely manner, we will be sorting through the new mail and packages to get them out and available to customers which will allow everyone to collect all mail for the day at one time.
If you have a package(s) that states that it is “available to pick up” then we should be able to locate the package(s). If, on the other hand, the package just states that it is “at the Post Office,” it is unlikely that it is available to collect. Look for a sign posted each day that states “Mail Available” before requesting that a staff member search for your mail.
We will, however, lengthen the hours for purchasing stamps and mailing packages.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this is causing our customers. Just as it is for all of you, this is a difficult and challenging situation for the Postal Staff. The abatement project is taking longer than predicted. It is our hope that we will be able to move back into the office by the end of September as originally planned. Thank you all for your compassion and understanding. Meeker truly is a wonderful community and we couldn’t survive this without your kindness.
Sincerely,
Beth Fox, Postmaster
