MEEKER — The Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Lighting Contest, judged Dec. 18, had 17 entries.
Three businesses entered the contest this year and all three deserve applause for their hard work. The Valley Motel, under new managers Joe and Rena Herl, was the winner. The Herls have turned the inside of the motel into a warm and inviting winter wonderland. The Valley Motel welcomes the community to stop by for a bit of holiday cheer.
The residential winner, Roberta Kinnamon at 758 Park Ave., says she enjoys decorating for her children and family. Young as well as old will enjoy this delightful display. Look for the gingerbread figures welcoming you to the North Pole.
Honorable mention goes to Tim Leff and Andrea Harmon for their fun and merry display at 426 Water St., the Bibbs’ bright and playful lights at 1322 Sage Ridge Road and the Parrs’ exquisite holiday detail at 590 County Road 4.
Warm up the hot chocolate, bundle up and check out other Meeker Christmas lighting highlights.
Drive up and down Park Avenue and Eighth Street, from the top of the hill down. Main and School streets are a can’t-miss with creative designs.
Bubba the hunting snowman makes his appearance again this year on First Street, and Sulphur Creek road is adorned with bright tree lights.
Lois and Frank Sampson’s display at 811 Market St. is truly like “chocolate for the eyes.”
Don’t forget the breathtaking displays along Water Street, Market Street, Sage and Sanderson Hills as well.
We thank everyone who participated in this year’s lighting contest, our judges and our sponsor, White River Electric, for making this year merry and bright.
