MEEKER — The Support Our Students (SOS) program offers support to children in many different areas and on an individual basis, whether academically, socially or personally. Students are recommended for this program by their teachers. With permission from their parents, they are then paired with a SOS partner. These volunteers from our community come to the school one hour per week to spend time with their partners helping them with classroom work such as times tables, reading, a special project, test taking skills, study skills, etc. The volunteer may also work with the student to develop friendship skills such as honesty and dependability. Sometimes these students just need to share concerns about their personal life.
With our increased enrollment we are in need of reliable volunteers to help support our students. If you are interested or know anyone who might be, please contact one of our committee members for more information: Debbie Cook at 878-9050 ext.130, Peggy Strate at 878-3307 or Glory Rholl at 878-9050 ext.138
