John Kyle (right), from the National Weather Service (NOAA/NWS) office in Grand Junction presented the Meeker BLM a 25-year length of service award to mining engineer and official weather observer Paul Daggett (left) and BLM field manager Kent Walter (center). The BLM office in Meeker has been taking daily weather observations of maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation in the form of rain or snow and snow depth since June 20, 1992. According to the NWS, Meeker has some of the longest weather history in all of eastern Utah or western Colorado, dating back to Jan. 1, 1891.
