The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service that were reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions or would like an explanation of the call types listed please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident.
April 15-21, 2019
Meeker Dispatch Center received 527 phone calls last week including 21 911 calls, 64 calls for Meeker Police Department (MPD) and placed 146 outgoing calls. A total of 172 calls for service were created, 94 for the Sheriff’s Office, 57 for MPD and 12 assists with Rangely Police Department. (Please note the department breakdown of calls reflects a different number because of incidents with multiple agency responses).
The Sheriff’s Office conducted 19 traffic stops, issued seven citations and MPD had eight stops issuing all warnings. Highway 13 had nine traffic stops, issued four citations, and had one traffic arrest.
Other calls for the Sheriff’s Office included 20 agency assists, two 911 hang ups, 13 animal calls, two K-9 deployments, two motorist assists, six suspicious incidents, three thefts, two VIN inspections, five warrant arrests and one each: attended death, business check, citizen assist, civil, BLM fire, funeral escort, harassment, property.
MPD calls included five agency assists, one 911 hangup, 10 animal calls, 11 business checks, four citizen assists, two harassment calls, three suspicious incidents, three VIN inspections and one each: alarm, criminal mischief, DUI, fire, funeral escort, motorist assist, parking violation, theft, traffic complaint.
There were five calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue including one ambulance request, two controlled burns (lost control), one fire involving a logging truck and one medical transport.
There were two assists with Colorado State Patrol.
Rio Blanco Detention facility booked in eight, seven by the Sheriff’s Office, one by MPD. Nine inmates were released. There were four transports to or from another facility.and there are currently 17 inmates in the facility.
There was one DUI arrest and one vehicle crash with injuries that was reported in the county.
