The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service that were reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions or would like an explanation of the call types listed please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident.

Meeker Dispatch Center administered 489 phone calls last week including 12 911 calls, 58 calls for Meeker Police Department (MPD), and placed 139 outgoing calls. A total of 193 calls for service were created, 102 for the Sheriff’s Office, 69 for MPD and 10 assists with Rangely Police Department (RPD). (Please note the department breakdown of calls may reflect a different number because of incidents with multiple agency responses).
The Sheriff’s Office conducted 28 traffic stops, issued nine citations and two arrests. MPD had 16 stops and issued six citations.
Other calls for the Sheriff’s Office included 21 agency assists, two 911 hang ups, 13 civil papers served, two business checks, three motorist assists, two ranch checks, seven suspicious incidents, two traffic arrests, three traffic complaints, four VIN inspections and one each alarm, animal call, attended death, citizen assist, civil, criminal mischief, disturbance, BLM fire, juvenile problem, K-9 deployment, narcotics, parking violation, traffic accident and warrant arrest.
MPD calls included three agency assists, two alarms, four animal calls, 24 business checks, three motorist assists, four suspicious incidents, three thefts, two traffic complaints, four VIN inspections and one each: civil, disturbance, traffic arrest, traffic hazard.
There were five calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue including four ambulance requests and assisted in washing red paint from the roadway.
There were two assists with Colorado State Patrol.
Rio Blanco Detention facility booked in eight, five by the Sheriff’s Office and three by RPD. Five inmates were released. Deputies conducted two transports to or from another facility and currently there are 16 inmates in the facility.
Three traffic crashes were reported in the county, one involving car/deer.
