The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service that were reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions or would like an explanation of the call types listed please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident.
Sept. 16-22, 2019
Meeker Dispatch Center administered 504 phone calls last week including 24 911 calls, 53 calls for Meeker Police Department (MPD) and placed 179 outgoing calls. A total of 155 calls for service were created, 67 for the Sheriff’s Office, 61 for MPD and three assists with Rangely Police Department (RPD). (Please note the department breakdown of calls may reflect a different number because of incidents with multiple agency responses).
The Sheriff’s Office conducted 17 traffic stops and issued one citation. MPD had 18 stops, issued two citations. There were five stops on Highway 13 all were issued warnings.
Other calls for the Sheriff’s Office included nine agency assists, two 911 hang ups, five animal calls, 10 civil papers served, two citizen assists, three suspicious incidents, four traffic complaints, four VIN inspections and one each: attended death, Forest Service patrol, funeral escort, illegal dumping, K-9 deployment, motorist assist and warrant arrest.
MPD calls included two agency assists, five 911 hangups, seven animal calls, 11 business checks, five citizen assists, three suspicious incidents, two VIN inspections and one each: assault, disturbance, fraud, funeral escort, motorist assist, theft, traffic complaint.
There were seven calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue with one alarm, two medical transports, three ambulance requests and a standby at the MHS football game.
There were three assists with Colorado State Patrol.
Rio Blanco Detentions facility booked in three, one by the Sheriff’s Office and two from RPD. Three inmates were released. There are currently 11 inmates in the facility. There were three transports to or from other facilities.
Three vehicle crashes were reported in the county all involving cars and deer.
There was one DUI arrest by the Sheriff’s Office.
