The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service that were reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions or would like an explanation of the call types listed please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident.

Meeker Dispatch Center administered 601 phone calls last week including 26 911 calls, 59 calls for Meeker Police Department (MPD) and placed 260 outgoing calls. A total of 179 calls for service were created, 79 for the Sheriff’s Office, 76 for MPD and five assists with Rangely Police Department. (Please note the department breakdown of calls may reflect a different number because of incidents with multiple agency responses).
The Sheriff’s Office conducted 21 traffic stops and issued two citations. MPD had 12 stops, issued one citation. There were six stops on Highway 13 with one citation issued.
Other calls for the Sheriff’s Office included 16 agency assists, one 911 hang up, five animal calls, two civil papers served, eight citizen assists, six motorist assists, eight suspicious incidents, two warrant arrests and one each: disturbance, forest service patrol, jail incident, missing person, trespass, unattended death, VIN inspection and wildland fire.
MPD calls included two agency assists, six 911 hangups, eight animal calls, 23 business checks, five citizen assists, three disturbances, seven suspicious incidents, three traffic complaints, four VIN inspections and one each: abandoned vehicle, civil, traffic accident.
There were 10 calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue, including four medical transports, five ambulance requests and one report of carbon monoxide leak in a residence.
There were five assists with Colorado State Patrol.
Rio Blanco Detention facility booked in two, both by the Sheriff’s Office. Four inmates were released. There are currently eight inmates in the facility. There was one transport to or from other facilities.
Five vehicle crashes were reported in the county, one single vehicle crash with injuries, one with a bear in addition to one with a horse involved.
There was one DUI arrest by the Sheriff’s Office.
