MEEKER | The White River Habitat Partnership Program (HPP) of the White River Habitat Partnership Program (HPP) will meet again July 30 at the Meeker Colorado Parks and Wildlife Offices, 73485 Hwy. 64, at 7 p.m. The committee will be taking applicants and applications at that time for proposed projects. The committee also will welcome general public comments and comments specific to their already funded or pending projects.
Agenda items include a budget update, minutes of their June 13 meeting, and the following proposal applications: Collins Mountain Ranch—three water wells; R Lazy J Ranch—water improvement; Oak Ridge State Wildlife Area mountain shrub aerial spraying treatment; Carter (Buckles Ranch) Timber Gulch mountain shrub aerial spraying treatment; Halandras Ranch—Davis waterline and north well; landscape scale weed control; and vinyl wire purchases for the program.
CPW White River HPP coordinator Bailey Franklin will also lead the group in a discussion about their big game Distribution Management Plan which expires in November of 2019. There will also be roundtable discussion. Applicants are asked to bring eight copies of their completed application plus any applicable maps to the meeting for committee members to review.
In addition to Franklin, the CPW representative, current members of the White River HPP committee are livestock growers Lenny Klinglesmith, Butch Theos and Jim Brennan; sportsman Rich Parr; BLM representative Mary Taylor and U.S. Forest Service rep Curtis Keetch. The White River HPP approved more than $215,000 toward projects this last fiscal year. The committee has been allocated $200,000 for the year that begins this month. Approved HPP monies are usually split on a 50:50 basis with the project proponent and other cooperators.
