White River National Forest issues temporary area closure for portion of Blanco Ranger District due to Elk Fire

RBC For the protection of health and safety to the public pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited within the White River National Forest, Blanco Ranger District, Rio Blanco and Moffat counties, in the State of Colorado.

The restricted area is further defined as the area within the Blanco Ranger District located to the west of the Long-Lost Trail system and to include the Long-Lost Trail systems. The Long-Lost trail is defined as trail #1808 from its start along county road 8 (Long Lost Trailhead), extending north to trail 1809.2 and continuing to trail 1805, and extending to the junction with the Routt National Forest. The attached map shows the area of temporary closure order.

PROHIBITIONS:

1. Going into or occupying the temporary area closure within the National Forest System lands until order closure order is rescinded: See

2. Being on the closed portion Trail #1808,1892.2, and 1805: See attached map 36 C.F.R 261.53(e).

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:

1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty;

2. Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

This order shall remain in effect until rescinded or until December 31, 2025, whichever event occurs first.
