I am announcing my interest to become the next Rio Blanco County Commissioner for District 1. I am a lifelong resident of Rio Blanco County born and raised in Rangely, a fourth-generation resident of Rio Blanco County, and own/live on property with deeded water rights on the White River. I was raised by a single mother of six where I learned the value of hard work, loyalty, integrity and family values from her.
My experience includes employment in the oil and gas industry, law enforcement, farming/ranching and the private sector as well as having a working knowledge and understanding of laws set forth by the Colorado Revised Statutes.
I presently serve as an at-large member for the Yampa, White, Green River Basin Round Table, as well as Director Vice-Chair for the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District. Water and the storage of water in Rio Blanco County is crucial to our future. I am also appointed as a board member for the Lower White River Weed and Pest District.
I would like to be part of the process to improve our county with the best possible approach to move forward in a fiscally responsible and appropriate manner with the future in mind. Commissioners need to work together for the betterment of our county as a whole. I believe in a “grass roots” approach to government. Our citizens need our support and as a commissioner I would welcome their input and knowledge.
The diversity of the county commissioners’ attributes to the mission and success of the county. This can be accomplished through policy-making and legislative functions, administering land use regulations, advocating for citizens at all levels of government and taking an active role in boards and activities that provide a voice to the citizens
I also look forward to assist with the ongoing responsibility to advocate for our county through its engagement in the state legislative process. I want to be an active part to preserve our culture, customs, values, heritage and way of life in Rio Blanco County.
