MEEKER — Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 12th and Market streets, celebrated a ground breaking as a prelude to the construction of a pastor’s home. The home will be built on Bissell Circle in the Sanderson Hill resubdivision. Work is beginning immediately on construction. The general contractor is Kim Brand of Rifle, and the project coordinator is David Hokit of Meeker.
The home will primarily be constructed with volunteers from around the country and the Meeker area. Volunteers are already committed to be here this summer from Oklahoma, Missouri and Louisiana.
Transitional Pastor John Robbins said, “The pastor’s home will enable the church to have a pastor living in the community. This project is part of the church’s long range goal of better serving the needs of the people of Meeker and Rio Blanco County.”
