It was not the first time for Meeker’s Tyler Ilgen to hunt for elk but it was the first time the seventh-grader filled his tag, on opening morning of the second season Ilgen hunted west of Meeker last year and wasn’t going to risk going empty handed this year when he spotted a large bull in the same area, so when a shot presented itself at 115 yards, Ilgen took it and was “ecstatic” when he found the bull just 100 yards from where he shot it.
