April incidents up 17.3 percent

RBC — Incidents reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office significantly increased during April 2009, with a 17.3 percent increase in activity compared to April 2008.
Total incidents received through the communications center increased to 988 in April 2009, up from 842 in April 2008.
The number of calls for service decreased for the sheriff’s office with 207 incidents in April 2009, down from 231 in April 2008.
Traffic stops increased significantly from 302 in April 2008 to 564 in April 2009 for the sheriff’s office, accounting for the overall increase for the month.
The Meeker P.D. responded to 167 calls for service during April 2009, down from 188 in April 2008.
Traffic stops for the Meeker P.D. decreased significantly with 34 stops in April 2009, down from 93 stops in April 2008.
Activity for both agencies includes these most notable classifications: 598 traffic stops; 43 VIN inspections; 42 animal calls; 33 motorist assists; 27 traffic arrests; 19 suspicious incidents; 18 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 18 civil situations; 18 warrant arrests; 16 accidents with property damage; 10 citizen assists; seven narcotics cases; six fire calls; six harassment cases; five alarm calls; five DUIs; five traffic complaints; four assaults; four disturbances; three criminal mischief cases; three domestic violence cases; three thefts; two hit and run accidents; two search and rescues; one burglary; one child abuse case; one fraud case; one juvenile problem; one trespass case and one unattended death.
The Rio Blanco County Detention Center operated at full capacity, with a daily average of 18.37 inmates, with 16.10 males and 2.27 females during April 2009, up from a daily average of 14.97 during March 2009. The number of bookings increased in April 2009 with 98 people processed in the detention center, up from 83 bookings in March 2009.
Of the 98 people processed, 78 were jailed and 20 were booked and released. The number of meals served by the detention center increased from 1,201 meals served in March 2009 to 1,411 meals served in April 2009.
