During the third annual Lose For Good Challenge, the Meeker Weight Watchers group donated food to the local food bank for every pound of weight lost. Also, five businesses — Ma Famiglia, Samuelson’s, State Farm, Valley Hardware and Watt’s Ranch Market — sponsored a Weight Watchers member, donating a non-perishable food item for every pound lost. Ashley Miles, left, who lost the most weight during the six weeks of the challenge, made the presentation Nov. 4 to Vicky Johnson of the Meeker Food Bank. “This is about a community coming together not only to feed the hungry, but also to fight obesity,” said Tammy Edinger of Meeker, who is the Weight Watchers 2010 Leader of the Year. “The community here sees the need to get involved in making healthier lifestyle changes.”
