BMS 6th graders enjoy outdoors

The sixth grade class had a wonderful time at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colo.
MEEKER I The sixth grade class had a wonderful time at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colo. Throughout the week we had many great experiences and challenges. Everybody got along brilliantly and we had many heroes, which help us learn from their mistakes and flaws. While we were there we learned a lot and we hope to carry the fire of friendship, teamwork and unity.
While at the YMCA we had many challenging experiences. An example of our challenges was the zip line and high ropes course. The heights were frightening, and we had to trust and rely on our leaders and teammates. The leaders helped our glorious experiences grow. They taught us outdoor living skills, forest ecology, orienteering, team building, crafts, gold mining and best of all they taught us about sled dogs. The Kiva recreation center helped richen our experience by letting us play sports, roller skate, ping pong and pool, and even go swimming. Along with our extraordinary experiences and challenges came our heroes. At the end of the day, all week we had a small ceremony to point out our heroes of the day. During the day we found our heroes by recognizing everybody helping each other. The team activities helped benefit the sixth grade all together in one big harmony.
Since the trip to the YMCA was so amazing we want to bring that responsibility, respect, loyalty and teamwork back to Barone Middle School. We can make this possible by having teamwork activities in and out of school. Instead of sorting out grades we want to co-mingle the middle school so that the older and younger students can bond. During lunch, recess and even breaks we can talk and gather our minds. Building courses outside could strengthen our trust and reliance with other grade levels. We want to thank our sponsors: Shelton Welding, Shelton Ranch, Arrington’s, WPX Energy, Enterprise Production, United Way, Fairfield Grant, Colowyo Coal, and WREA for making our trip possible. Overall, the sixth grade had the most astounding trip that we will never forget, but for now it will be an incredible part of our daily remembrance and it always will be.
