Enter the pie, salsa or jam and jelly contest

MEEKER I Calling all bakers and canners: the RBC 4-H foundation is once again sponsoring the pie, salsa and jam/jelly contest at the Mountain Valley Bank Fall Festival to be judged for great prizes and auctioned off to the highest bidder. Bring your best pies to enter to win some great cash prizes.
Best overall fruit and fall festival pies each win $100, the best youth (new category this year) and prettiest pie each win $50 and the best salsa and jam/jelly entries each win $25. Bring two pies to Mountain Valley Bank between 9-10 a.m. Saturday. One will be judged, both will be sold or auctioned. Bring one container of salsa for judging by 10 a.m. and bring two containers of jam/jelly by 10 a.m. for judging and auction. Pie tins, salsa containers and jelly jars will not be returned. Prize money will be available for pick up by 12:30 p.m.
The proceeds from this wonderful auction go directly back into the 4-H program of Rio Blanco County. Last year 4-H gave two scholarships to seniors, awarded money to the state champion livestock judging team for travel to nationals, funded two members’ trips to Washington, D.C., and gave many awards to deserving 4-H students for a total of more than $5,350. Your support with this fun contest helps fund similar trips and awards for the upcoming year.
